If you have been watching the news later you will have heard all about the COP26 climate summit that has been taking place throughout November. Many of the groups that monitor climate change and the effects it is having are concerned about the level of damage we are doing and have asked the world leaders to get together to come up with plans on how they can reduce our carbon footprint.

Engineering is one of the industries that is responsible for a lot of greenhouse gases that causes climate change. Engineering covers a vast range of different types of buildings and manufacturing.

Building construction and use contribute more than 40% of human-caused emissions of greenhouse gases but structural engineers can play a huge part in reducing the carbon emissions these buildings emit. Often by changing the type of materials they use when constructing the budling and also designing the internal structure using materials and machinery that reduces the amount of carbon emissions that are given off, will massively help to reduce their carbon footprint.

There are various ways in which companies can do their bit for the planet and often they will rep the benefits of being able to reduce their own carbon footprint.
