Knowing where to buy your machinery from

If you run a business that relies heavily on machinery of some sort then you need to try and ensure that whenever you have to purchase new parts or a new machine that it is going to have been looked after and reliable. Often awfully expensive machinery is sold on second hand to allow other companies to be able to purchase something that they may simply not of been able to afford new. Some machinery is much cheaper to buy or only available to buy from abroad but this does require more logistical work to get it over. You will need to ensure you fully understand how it is going to be transported, what the procedures are and how much it will cost. It may be that larger machines need to be transported in smaller parts and several different deliveries. There is almost certainly going to be import tax to pay too.

If you are buying second-hand machinery you really want some assurances that it is going to work as it should. Try and push to ensure that you get a warranty and if possible, always send someone over to inspect the machine and see it working before you agree to the sale.
